Grimes – Delete Forever

JUST RELEASED. Grimes dropped the music video to her 5th single “Delete Forever” off of Miss Anthropocene which drops on 2.21.20. This song is much more folk than what we’re used to with Grimes and it reminds me of her song “California” off of Art Angels.

The music video to “Delete Forever” was completed an hour before the video was released. The video is of Grimes sitting on a chair on a strange looking planet with pillars covered in giant red silk scarves surrounded by moons, planets, and nebulas.

I’m tryna see her hologram perform live one day!

The Strokes – At the Door

The Strokes released their first single “At the Door” to come off of their upcoming album The New Abnormal which is expected to drop on 4.10.20. This would be their 6th album and their latest since their 2013 Comedown Machine.

“At the Door” is accompanied by a wicked music video that features heroic rabbits, evil space royals, and the uncertainty of a mystic and intergalactic future for all beings.

The band also played this video during their set at the Bernie Sanders rally in New Hampshire earlier this week. Check out the full Nina Turner x Dr. Cornel West x AOC x Bernie Sanders x The Strokes rally below!

& congratulations to Bernie and ALL of his amazing supporters for the wins in Iowa & New Hampshire!!!!

Tickets are still available to see The Strokes perform with Alvvays in LA on 3/14.

JUST ANNOUNCED: Cruel World Fest!

Screen Shot 2020-02-11 at 12.54.04 PM

Morrissey, Bauhaus, Blondie, Echo & the Bunnymen, The Psychedelic Furs, Gary Numan, and more – all in one music festival!!! It’s Cruel World and I hope to be there for this gothic/new wave/80s super fest.

Tickets start at $135-$165 + fees for regular GA. I’m guessing that the $135 is first tier (first batch of tickets before they sell out and up the price for the next tiers).

You must register for pre-sale which opens this Thursday, February 13 at noon PST.

There is also an option at the bottom of the page to remove the sale of your information once you register.

Looks like people are already asking for Morrissey to be dropped or are speculating that this will be one of those times that Morrissey ends up not showing up. I’m still down for the rest of the lineup. 🦇🦇🦇

My birthday is coming up, anyone?

UPDATE: Cruel World was cancelled but rescheduled for 2022!

Khruangbin & Leon Bridges – Texas Sun EP

a0377980978_10

Yooo. I don’t think anyone saw this coming but Khruangbin and Leon Bridges collaborated on an EP that just dropped today! Really nice how the two can organically make soulful music. They’re all from Texas so get ready for some soothing country with a mix of R&B…but it’s indie rock? I’ve grown to like Khruangbin on their own however I feel like Leon Bridges was the missing element for such wonderful music.

QUITS – Prisoner’s Dilemma

a2724181380_16

Straight out of Fresno, Malcolm Church drops his first single “Prisoner’s Dilemma” on bandcamp. The tune is a sweet ode with eerie lyrics. You can sense the romantic yet intense fervor throughout the track. I get Ol’ western cowboy vibes from the single and it makes me think that the boy will definitely be able to convey his emotions in whatever way he chooses to do so! He’s got good taste in music and I’m ready to listen to his inspirations throughout his hits. Malcolm is sooo talented. I cannot wait for more of what he can cook up!

Please check it out below!!!

Ryan Beatty – Dreaming of David

tumblr_cad5e098b205ada277dee0a11f3d827a_d8380bd7_540

Alright…I’m plugging this in because Ryan Beatty is a Central Valley local who is apparently a pretty big deal and hangs around Justin Bieber and Jaden Smith and all of them. He’s actually from Clovis. I didn’t plug this in because his album has my name in it. But that’s kinda cool. I wouldn’t have given this a serious listen if it hadn’t been for my friend Starry. I mean it’s alright. I just don’t have the patience for it. But pretty nice.

POLIÇA – When We Stay Alive

Polica-When-We-Stay-Alive-1570575692-640x640

Poliça is one of my favorite bands at the moment. Their electronic indie pop rock goes hard. If you haven’t listened to “Dark Star” then get on that. When We Stay Alive did not impress me as much as the rest of their catalog. They had been fairly consistent yet their 2020 album isn’t as dance-heavy as some of their other releases. I can still totally chill out to this album without a problem. I’m tryna see them in SF on 4/21 👀

100 gecs – 1000 gecs

100gecs_1000gecs

100 gecs changed my life… At only 20 minutes long, Dylan Brady and Laura Les’s 1000 gecs was THE cyber-pop mashup of 2019. Their cross-genre tracks remind me of a pop version of Art of Noise but on some type of alien drug. They can get pretty weird making you feel like you’re trapped in Windows ’97 but I promise you that you will find the light if you hang tight. I didn’t think I’d find myself loving this album so much but it is definitely an addicting listen. I really dig “money machine” and “ringtone.” Don’t be afraid to give ’em a listen.

BEST ALBUMS OF 2019

10. Lana Del Rey – Norman F*****g Rockwell!a81f1051f61c93c3ad4489700ee04328.1000x1000x1

Lana out here still making pretty good music. Wait is she dating a cop?

9. Billie Eilish – WHEN WE ALL FALL ASLEEP, WHERE DO WE GO?https---images.genius.com-340ad5b2b1163aa2333a8efc0815b84f.1000x1000x1.jpg

8. Tyler, the Creator – IGOR

Tyler came through with IGOR, if you didn’t already know that.

7. Turnover – Altogethera0247113498_10

If you’re looking for something new and chill then check out Turnover. They don’t really change their formula when making music so their whole catalog is an easy listen. Underrated for sure.

6. Surf Curse – Heaven Surrounds Youa3825990458_10.jpg

The boys from Surf Curse were inspired by classical movies as they wrote each song on this album. They released it on Friday the 13th in September. Still great surf rockin’ indie music from these guys.

5. The Drums – Brutalismbrutalism-album-artwork-1547528745-640x640

Don’t be mad, Jonny. 626 Bedford Avenue was probs my favorite song of 2019. xx

4. FKA Twigs – MAGDALENE22137811fba80fb115438ebb3e0ef365.1000x1000x1

The production on this record was astounding. Forever stan FKA Twigs.

3. Orville Peck – Ponya2255775736_10.jpg

Give Orville Peck a try. Total cowboy.

2. SadGirl – Watera0798613842_10.jpg

How can you not like SadGirl? Ever wondered what oldies would sound like from an indie band from Los Angeles? They’re super dope and super talented.

1. Blood Orange – Angel’s PulseBlood-Orange.jpg

Dev Hynes is a hard working musician/composer and it definitely pays off. This album is solid!!!!
