Yeah…the Strokes did not disappoint one bit. I was a little skeptical at first but this record certainly cements their place at the top for alternative rock since the 2000s. My fave track is “Eternal Summer.”

Lil B just released his latest mixtape Trapped Oz. At over 2.5 hours long, we get a lot from the Bay Area Based God. At times, we see another side of Lil B that we haven’t before. His lyrics are very honest and this time around, he messes around with more broken down beats that aren’t rapped over. The first few tracks is where it’s at. I love lil b. thank you lil b.

Of Montreal is the hardest working band out there, in my opinion. UR FUN came out earlier this year and it does not stray away from Kevin Barnes’s weirdly fun and bubbly pop bops. Not everyone can hang…but if you can then let’s have fun 🙂

I recently discovered The Garden (I know, hella late) and it feels like I discovered Jesus. I love their style (whatever that is, Vada Vada?) This album is so badass from start to finish. It even features Ariel Pink. Take that, Anthony Fanlameo!

S/o to the homie Betty for putting me on. This is seriously such a sick soundtrack. Best of the year so far.

New music from TOPS 🙂

Honestly I recently JUST started listening to Sunset Rollercoaster. I’ve been missing out and so have you if you haven’t already given them a listen. “I’m a Fish” came out earlier this year and it’s a sweet tune. It’s got a saxophone and it’s beautifully dissonant at times…it just might cure your ailments…..This Taiwanese band is CHILL. Apparently, fans named this genre of music “pregnantal rock” because of its romantic-ness.

We all know about Starfucker and their mega-hit “Rawnald Gregory Erickson the Second,” but did you know that they are still making boppers!? So glad I got to see them at Just Like Heaven Fest last year. “Budapest” is the third single to be released recently. They also released “Never the Same” and “Deep Dream.”

If you haven’t heard of this extremely talented band, PLEASE check them out. They are so indie and punk and overall a great band to listen to. Originally from Leucadia, CA and spearheaded by Felipe Pezzoli, South Beacons exert that California angst with incredible and poetic lyrics in their music. Listen to their latest song “Functional Pop Song (for a Coming of Age Movie with a Beach Scene) and check out their Bandcamp.

Yes, Gorrillaz are still around and they’re still making amazingggg music. You NEED to listen to “Désolé” ft. Fatoumata Diawara. Gorillaz are currently my 11 year-old brother Renzo’s favorite band.
