Future Islands came out w/ a brand new single titled “For Sure,” which is such a mood in its title. If I never get to see them live then I’ll freak it. Anyway, “For Sure” rips my heart up and the group shown no signs of slowing down (kinda like cobid). They are still making quality dope intense music. Really vibe w/ the lyrics too.
Homeshake – Haircut EP

Get ready to fall asleep! JK, kinda. Y’all know Homeshake. I feel like on Haircut EP they are way more simplistic and even more dreamy than they have ever been. The EP is quite soothing. Another release that can’t be found on Spotify or Apple Music. So check out their 16-minute EP on YuhTube.
Black Dresses – Peaceful as Hell

Not gonna lie Anthony Fantano put me on to Black Dresses who have since disbanded since releasing Peaceful as Hell earlier this year. I can only really describe it as as electronic industrial noise punk rock hehe. It’s a hidden gem in the strange year of 2020. OH yeah, you can only listen to it on YouTube or bandcamp.
TV Girl – The Night in Question: French Exit Outtakes

I made it a goal to finally see TV girl in 2020. “Well that’s too damn bad…” Yo, anyway. This album slaps so hard. I mean like, the way david thinks this slaps, you know? TV girl is so consistent it’s not even funny. This album has everything: cigarettes, oddly satisfying samples, and LA. I’m starting to think I only listen to bands that have “girl” in the band name.
SadGirl – Learn to Swim

Darn. I keep pushing off uploading the interview I did with Misha. Anyway. During covid, SadGirl put out a v nice single. It has an eerie & lonesome cowboy vibe. Music video is cool even though Misha messed up on IG trying to livestream it during its release. I still support, king.
Choir Boy – Gathering Swans

There’s a lot I can say about Choir Boy. First of all, thank you Starry Rinn for putting me on. This is one of my favorite albums of 2020. And you wouldn’t believe that it was from this decade once you give it a listen. Choir Boy blends current dream-pop with 80’s new wave. It’s all I ever wanted. And now I’m crying in the club ;( I wish to see them one day.
Tei Shi – La Linda

Tei Shi captivated me with her 2013 Saudade – EP. A little late but 2019 La Linda is worth a listen for 1 main reason: Dev Hynes. I respect her craft and all but damn what a masterpiece she was able to put together with Blood Orange on the song “Even if it Hurts.” It’s the only song on the album that truly pops off in a dazzlingly soft and beautiful way.
Chicano Batman – Invisible People

Chicano Batman is back at it. After releasing, Freedom is Free in 2017 and then Black Lipstick – EP in 2019, CB releases another hit. I was a little worried at first but after one (1) listen, I was hooked. Pretty great album. My fave song is “Blank Slate.” Solid 8/10.
Metronomy – Metronomy Forever

I believe this is the first time I mention Metronomy. They are definitely an underrated and versatile group of electropop misfits from England. If you haven’t checked them out then please do. Discography on fire. Metronomy Forerver came out in 2019 but the music video for “The Light” came out like a week ago. Hella nice. Hella worth falling in love with.
