Phantogram – Ceremony

phantogram_ceremony

Phantogram has been one of my favorite bands for a long time. Their alternative electronic rock is always captivating. Not much noise has been made about their latest album that just came out. I definitely have mixed feelings about it. Overall their fourth LP is full of jammers like “Into Happiness” (the album’s first single to be released), “Dear God,”  “Pedestal,” “Gaunt Kids,” and the lucid and exponentially vibrant “Ceremony.”

Best Coast – Always Tomorrow

Best-Coast-Always-Tomorrow-art

New Best Coast! It makes me happy that Bethany Cosentino and Bobb Bruno are still at it making awesome indie rock music. It’s been 10 years since their groundbreaking Crazy for You which completely changed the indie game. Always Tomorrow doesn’t disappoint and it also carries almost the same energy as 2015’s California Nights.

I got to see Best Coast at Tioga the other day in Fresno. They played a free show as part of a 104.1 New Rock promotion. It was a pretty short set and they were without a drummer. BUT, they did play a cover of “If it makes you happy,” by Sheryl Crow.

Let us not forget the night Bethany sang into my ear during several songs as I was front row at their show in SF one time. She even ran off with my Bernie shirt fr fr. And I have Bethany’s setlist from that night.

Yo check this out!: The Mutilations

I recently became aware of The Mutilations after I saw them open for SadGirl in SF. The San Leandro rock band, as they explain, encompass “a sound that blends the dark, industrial elements of SL’s rich history, with a kind of ethereal, carefree nostalgia that recalls the shimmering sunshine sound of Cali’s 1960s surf scene.”

If you weren’t sold on their latest music video for “Sausage King,” which was released YESTERDAY, pls check out “Greg, Greg, Greg,” below. And while you’re at it, check out THE MUTILATIONS on ALL streaming platforms. Seriously, do it. ☠️

Tame Impala – The Slow Rush

Another album being released on v day and its by the biggest band in the world right now. Kevin Parker knows how to make groovy and psychedelic tunes. That’s all I can say about The Slow Rush.

They’re one of the only bands I would take a flight to go see perform live. It’ll happen eventually. And they’ll be around North America throughout Summer 2020.

I hella dig “It Might Be Time” & “Glimmer.”
